Food Security

Food security is one of the essentials of people’s livelihoods. Unfortunately, many households (urban and rural) are not able to meet this requirement (quality and quantity). This could be due to a lack of production resources and/ or the knowledge to produce their own food. A current trend is the migration of people from rural to urban and peri-urban areas, many of whom go to bed hungry.

This project will alleviate food security gap of both rural and urban households, through the provision of training and innovations to enable the communities to produce their own food (vegetables, portable layer cage production) sustainably. Having regard to the level of poverty, unemployment and the growing number of orphans and people living and affected by HIV and AIDS, this project would be very significant to the Municipality.

The project site will be Msobomvu and Golf Club in Alice
