COTELCO ED Supports Syracuse’s Fall DPS Residency

Dr. Derrick Cogburn presenting at DPS Residency

Dr. Derrick L. Cogburn, COTELCO/IDPP Executive Director has traveled to Syracuse University (SU) to assist in facilitating the School of Information Studies’ Fall Doctor of Professional Studies in Information Management (DPS-IM) Residency from 17 – 21 September 2012.

Similar to the DPS Residency that was held this past spring, this semester’s residency program serves as an introduction to and overview of the DPS program, which is being led by DPS-IM Director, Dr. Michelle L. Kaarst-Brown in addition to several SU faculty, including Dr. Cogburn and COTELCO Doctoral Students listening to a presentation at the DPS Residency Associate Director Dr. Marilyn Arnone. The fall residency welcomes five cohorts of the program, with each cohort participating in session tracks specifically designed for where they are in the progression of the program.  The goal of the DPS-IM residency is to ensure that students are clear about how to move forward through each phase of the program and maximize their participation.

Doctoral students are attending a series of events, including faculty seminar workshop presentations that focus on thesis defense, preparing for comprehensive exams, and preparing for interviews, all of which are intended to provide students with the tools they need to embark on the program.
